Finally induced at 39 weeks because I was effaced head engaged and almost 6cm but no labor signs. I worked 40 hours a week 3rd shift up until the night I delivered (I'm a nurse).I went through the same thing and unfortunately for me it was prodromal labor. Contractions on and off for weeks. I tried everything to help kick labor into gear (walks every day, breast pumping, and sex all seemed to cause more contractions) but nothing got me into active labor. I ended up being induced at 42 weeks.

Doctor said it could be tonight, could still be 2-3 weeks away, no way of knowing. I think I’ve had a few isolated contractions, but they were pretty mild. Have been losing mucus plug gradually for two weeks. In the absence of scientific information about this, I thought I’d at least ask you all for instincts and anecdotes. 🙂.

That being said, lots of women walk around dilated for much longer than a week, so just because you are at 3.5 doesn't mean you're about go. Good luck!
