Make sure Cemu opens in desktop mode, then in desktop mode "install" the game and DLC by clicking on the meta files. "Load" the game in Cemu and make sure it runs in desktop mode. Switch to game mode and it should work! I've been playing "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" (TotK) on both my PC and Steam Deck. The game runs smoothly on my PC, but on the Steam Deck, I'm experiencing a locked framerate of 20fps. However, when I unlock the framerate, I can achieve a more consistent 30-35fps, which is more playable for me.

Not sure if it was SteamOS or Yuzu update that fixed it. I did not test all combinations but there definitely was a time where disabling SMT increased performance in Yuzu by a mile. Same issue as you, Found the fix. I had to open yuzu in steam desktop, then open speaker on the desktop bottom right menu. click applications and Yuzu is muted by default. I unchecked mute and booted back into steam deck game OS. Audio works now. Note this just makes the game look nice when you play yuzu on PC.
