In order for me to give you a true, detailed review, I needed to shoot both bows consistently for a great period of time. I put it through the “Josh Bowmar” test, and tested 12 different factors that I find important when choosing which bow to purchase.Hoyt RX-3. A few others have dabbled in the carbon game, but Hoyt has long been the king in top-end carbon bows. This year's RX-3 is no exception. Right out of the box this 30.5-inch, compact bow is a real looker. Finish is great and its new parallel-track carbon-tube design provides a super cool look as the tubes are offset horizontally.A carved figure mounted on a ship’s bow is called a nautical figurehead. In the early days of seafaring, when wooden ships sailed the seas, carved figureheads depicting women were ...

If you're coming from Mathews or Bowtech, it's going to feel really stiff upfront, but it's way smoother into the valley than Mathews. The shot felt great going off. Very dead and solid. It is a solid bow, but wasn't my favorite among the Hoyt bows, and I'm still concerned about the rotating mods at 29.5 since it's the first position.Last year's V3 was offered in an ultra-compact 27″ model, or a slightly longer 31″ model, which left longer axle-to-axle lovers out of luck. Mathews answered that call this year with a 33″ axle-to-axle model of the V3X, which offers a slightly longer brace height of 6.5″ and draw lengths all the way up to 31.5″.The draw lengths between the two feel different cause they measure from two different places. Typical of a Mathews is 0.5” longer than what the mod says it is when you measure AMO while a Hoyt is typically only about 0.25” longer. Because of this I always tell people to shoot what feels comfortable and not any specific number.

I shot them side by side for an hour, but in the end the prime was a touch smoother, had less hand shock and a bit lighter. However the Elite had higher let off and a longer valley. The Prime valley is in between mathews and Elite. It lists as 4.2 lbs, but most real world tests weight them slightly lighter.mathewsinc.com. Mathews continues with their V series of hunting bows for 2021. It’s the series that began with the Vertix in 2019 and continued with the VXR in 2020. The V3 is the 3rd generation, building upon those platforms, with some new features and design improvements for 2021. 10997 posts · Joined 2002. #2 · Aug 20, 2021. I have 2 Torrex's. Excellent bows. I think they are the pinnacle of Hoyt's cam and 1/2 development - just before they switched to the Binary system. There is a 50-60# Torrex in the classifieds right now for $400. I'm tempted to make my total 3 Torrex's.

The Mathews was shooting at 307 fps vs 296 from the Hoyt (!). I was so impressed by the draw cycle vs. speed from the Mathews. Then you consider the riser length of the Mathews (33.5" vs. 31" from the Hoyt) and the weight (4.25 lbs. vs. 4.5 lbs. from the Hoyt) and the reflex (1.5" on the Mathews vs. 1.75" on the Hoyt)...

Getting to anchor was also a great feeling with the smooth draw of the cams. A lot of times with longer axle-to-axle and longer brace height bows you sacrifice speed. However, that wasn't the case with the Axius Ultra. 1.75" on the Hoyt)...Mathews, Hoyt, PSE, Elite, and Bowtech are (in that order IMO) the top brands for flagship bows right now. I would not personally use a bear bow, simply for the fact that their quality control reputation has been so-so in the recent past, and the technology that their flagships use is simply behind the other big companies.Currently, the lightest bow in the market is a Hoyt bow. The Hoyt Fireshot is the lightest bow with a weight of only three pounds. It's a hybrid target shooting and hunting compound bow. It is only followed by the Mathews Stoke which weighs 3.78 pounds which is only a half quarter heavier than the Hoyt Fireshot.Onieda vs. Mathews. I am currently considering switching bows from a 2001 Mathews SQ2 to a new (2005) Onieda Black Eagle ESC. I've been weighing the pros and cons of each. I love the super quietness of the Mathews and the bow is consistant but there is torque and the cable guard keeps loosening, however, the Onieda offers a really smooth draw ...

The Hoyt is slightly more vibration free and had a better grip out of the box. The ultra view on the Mathews makes them equal. The Hoyt required less for stabilizers but does seem to float a little more probably due to the weight difference. Quietness on the shot goes to the Mathews. With a Mathews, you need new limbs. Hoyt's risers are tough- 1500 dryfires. Mathews risers- they aren't shabby either, but after a few dryfires they would most likely be a little bent up. Both companies will treat you well if the bow does fail, but the edge goes to Hoyt for durability. The Hoyt is slightly more vibration free and had a better grip out of the box. The ultra view on the Mathews makes them equal. The Hoyt required less for stabilizers but does seem to float a little more probably due to the weight difference.
