This is really what matters. You need well-made shoes that have flexible soles for children to promote proper foot and arch development. I mean if you're walking from place to place in town in the rain or snow MTEs are fine for the whole day. If you're going to be shoveling snow for a few hours, standing in the rain for like 3 hours straight at a concert, or going for a 10 mile hike in some completely drenched forest I'd probably step up to the gore tex. senikram.

Try the ultrarange line. A good blend between skater vans and athletic shoes. I walk about 3.5 miles a day in UltraRanges, but they aren't built for running. I tried a few times and they aren't supportive enough. Get a real pair. Nah. Wear for jogging shoes with more foam. Wear real running shoes.

The pros are technically made for skating. Whether you skate or not the shoe is going to be better quality than the “classic” style shoes.
