Dec 4, 2017. #16. The rear end gears were designed for flathead V8 power and are the same gears found in a 2-ton truck of the era. I'm reminded of back in the early days of tractor pulling a local guy had an F-30 Farmall with a blown 427 Chevy engine. The stock F-30 gears took the power fine.

As for the engine, since the 302 was an option in '69 (same basically as '68) the parts are all easily available. You'll need to swap in the proper motor mounts and replace the throttle linkage with a cable system. You may have to reroute the fuel line, I can't recall. As for the tranny, that's someone else's department.
