My impression is that several systems work together and a problem in one system can cause another to misbehave also. My solution has been to buy an inexpensive reader tool and keep it in the car so if a problem shows it's self I can read it on the road and reset it as needed. Bad gas could be the cause. I would check the air filter to make sure it's ok and that nothing found a home in the airbox or intake. I would be looking at the air mass sensor.
