Mar 17, 2011 · I just went out and tried a 1 oz. load using the DRV20 wad. STS hull and W-209, 17.0 grs, Longshot, (Hodgdon lists from 16.3 to 18.0 using the WAA20F1), and 1 oz. #7-1/2 shot. Had to use a little bit of wad pressure, but it then fit and crimped very nicely. Just need to contact Hodgdon and get their blessing on the load.

Your other wad option would be an SG20S from BPI in presently manufactured wads. Other wad options would be discontinued WAA20F1 or SP20. You'll have to somewhat fly by the seat of your pants depending on what you can acquire in wads and powder that will fit these old cases as data available may not relate to your combination.

The new Windjammer 20 gauge wad works well for a 1oz. load in the WWAA OS or HS but you must use a very dense, low sitting powder like HS6 or the like to fit everything in neatly. Although expensive the best and only US-made wad for 1oz. 20 gauge loads that works well with a variety of hulls and powders is the Remington SP20.
