The reason you lose features is because you add the launcher as game but not the game itself. Steam will hook onto the process named ffxivboot64.exe while the game itself is ffxiv_dx11.exe placed in the game folder. Not sure if there's a solution to this as you cannot run ffxiv_dx11.exe directly so adding it as non-Steam-app won't work.

Thanks to covid we're now seeing FFXIV launch an expansion during the winter because of it as well.
