I have the X-Macro comp and absolutely love it. Shot both the Comp and the Tacops and the Tacops has a noticeable muzzle rise compared to the Comp. However, the Tacops has 4 magazines compared to the Comp, has a flush magazine well, longer barrel and is $200-$300 cheaper. That being said, I still prefer the Comp over the Tacops.

If you are going with the X-Macro TacOps or a365XL those are great choices. As you begin your journey as a new shooter consider a .22 caliber pistol as your second gun. The SIG p322 is a similar size and shape. The more you are able to shoot the more your skill and confidence levels will improve.

The only way to put a 3.7" barrel on a X Macro Comp is to change the slide and barrel however you do not need to change the spring.
