I have a 32" DL, so I have a much more limited selection of bows than most people. This bow fits me perfectly. Please take a seat sir. That's a nice looking bow.Here are some pics and my first impressions..... First, all 4 bows came in out of spec. Draw weight was pretty high (77# on one!) so I brought them back in spec before shooting. These comments go for the Alpha X as well. As usual not much difference except weight. These bows were right on the money as to draw length once put in spec.Nov 18, 2023 · The Mathews was shooting at 307 fps vs 296 from the Hoyt (!). I was so impressed by the draw cycle vs. speed from the Mathews. Then you consider the riser length of the Mathews (33.5" vs. 31" from the Hoyt) and the weight (4.25 lbs. vs. 4.5 lbs. from the Hoyt) and the reflex (1.5" on the Mathews vs. 1.75" on the Hoyt)... The VTM34 draws slightly smoother, and the Hoyt has a better factory grip IMO. If you have been a Hoyt guy for a long time you will transition into the VTM easier. I do like the low riser stab mount option on the Hoyts. Both companies make outstanding accessories, although Mathews pricing is stupid. I have shot a bunch of different bows in the past 3-4 years before shooting an Athens 2 years ago and will only be buying there bows from now on.

The Hoyt RX7 has a much smoother draw, and it is also longer and more forgiving. All bows where put on draw board and timed, draw weight was taken and draw length was measured. Three bows I shot were Mathews lift 29.5, Hoyt Alpha X 30, Hoyt RX-8 30 inch. Both Hoyt’s where 70.1 lbs at 28.5dl measured. Mathews was 72lbs with 28 mod (measured 28 3/8). The Hoyt was popular and pretty successful on the international stage, part of that being marketing/sponsorship but part of that also because it was a good shooter.
