Earlier 7.3 IDI heads have coolant ports facing the intake (valley pan) gasket, which are simply dead-headed there by the gasket. Later model IDIs have plugs pressed into the heads here, so it won't leak even without the valley pan gasket. Not sure on what exact year/serial that they switched to plugging those holes.
Most had heavy commercial bodies during sale. Hydro on a 250/350 with f super rabs delete locks the rear wheels easier than vacuum. F350 Pump w/ F Super Res - Worse than the vacuum w/ rabs delete. Hydro has a spongier feel in general but you can tell they wouldn’t roll off the lot like this.As Calvin said, drain the oil so the area will be a bit cleaner and you're not fighting the oil trying to escape. Clean up the outside of the hole carefully for better holding and seal. But be careful there in case the surrounding area is weakened. DO NOT go farther than that. The cylinder walls in a 7.3 are relatively thin so the less over bore, then better. I used to work in a shop that remanned these engines back in the late 90's and early 2000's. Our machine shop wouldn't go over a .020" over bore. Yes, the contactor inside may not be connecting the two large lugs. If shorting the two big lugs makes the plugs work, then I would say this is what’s happening. I could have used my auto driveshaft, but the 5 speed shaft was thicker and had larger u-joints. But wait, you can make it fit. That is what the article tells you how to convert it over. It has a picture also.
