USF. research school. I was accepted to the honors college- so I would graduate with a honors degree in biology- cum laude. less prestigious and ranked lower. Vet hours ( 850 hours) Shelter Clinic Volunteer ~500 hours. Vet assistant at a vet hospital — 350 hours to application date (I have about 1000 hours in total now) Animal Experience hours (~1200 hours in total) Shelter volunteer -- ~1000 hours. Kennel assistant at same vet hospital — 200 hours. Exotics — 90 hours.

Yes, the vet school does take mainly in-state students, after all it is a state school, but if your grades are good and you are in-state you have a chance no matter what school you went to.
