For the hydraulics I always used regular hydraulic oil (which is 20 weight). The hydraulic oil is supposed to have some additives for the seals. Regular hydraulic fluid as opposed to the hy-tran type which is used in newer tractors having hydraulic system & transmission supplied by same resorvoir. Our WD-45"s rear end gets 85-90 Gear lube.

According to the manual, it say's to loosin' the "top" of the linkage below the gas tank, pull the slack "up" and set the lever on the stearing wheel mast at 45 degrees, then tighten.
