The L5p was a very small exhaust side configuration, small up pipes, small exhaust turbo vanes, etc. So I am guessing the ECM was seeing some very high EGT’s and cut power to keep from melting pistons. It gets 30mpg on the highway at 65mph so I guess if it regens for 7% of the time then it will probably drop to 27 to 28 mpg.
