My brother has a 2020 F150 STX 4x4 5.0 Coyote. He has been experiencing Shuttering, many trips to the dealership and they concluded it was the fuel injectors, all 8 were replaced, still not resolved. Next visit, they said it was the Torque Converter, they ordered and installed, still not resolved. All this was covered under Premium Warranty.
Torque Converter Noise. Need help! 2002 F150 w/ 4.6L 2WD, @ 160k miles. Just rebuilt the engine after starting with exhaust manifold leak. Long story but necessary work. I still have a ticking noise very similar to the exhaust manifold leak sound that is coming from the torque converter. Noise starts with the engine and continues as I drive.An AOD has a drain plug behind the metal plate on the front of the transmission. On my AODE (4r70w) in my 2000 CrownVic, they supposedly drained the converter when I paid Ford to change my fluid. I am pretty sure that rubber boot is how you get to it. I think the fluid capacity will depend on the vehicle it is in.Safely secure the vehicle on jack stands and move the 15-qt. capacity pan to under the torque converter. Remove the rubber bell housing seal with a screwdriver. In order to drain the TC, you must align the drain plug with the hole in the bell housing. I also installed a B & M deep tranny pan with a drain plug. My 4.2 sport with a 4R70W tranny does have a drain plug on the torque converter. You first remove a rubber plug or cover than rotate the converter until the drain plug is visible. Seems Ford has a better idea, at least with the 4R70W. (PS I found the bobber) darkdan.
