May 27, 2014 · Black Max XR2 150 HP Question. My outboard is a 87 Mercury Black Max XR2 150HP. Motor starts fine, no misses while running, gets on plane fine. My issue is when I am running, motor sounds/feels like its bogged down. Will only get to around 5200 rpm, according to the owners manual I found online, 6000 to 7000 is recommended wide open throttle. Hopefully this will fix my problem. Any help is appreciated.
