Everything that I have read has said that the 11-48 was designed in 1948 but was either manufactured or introduced in 1949. According to the date code charts I have seen, it places the date of manufacture as Oct. (E) of 1948 (TT).Remington Model 48, serial number 3514000. This fine Remington Sportsman 48 is a 16 Ga, chambered for 2.75 (or shorter) shells. The under barrel tube magazine holds two shells, giving you a 2 + 1 capacity. The 27.5” Barrel has a front bead sight and is believed to be of the Modified Choke variety.
