One time the dragon whupped my ass around 2237 and then my neighbors steamrolled me. My most recent play, it took about 65 years to get the tech to beat the dragon reliably while not losing the game in the meantime. Then I used that dragon to kill shard and got 200k fleet power of dragons and steamrolled my regional adversaries.
