Apr 13, 2023 · Homepod Flashing Volume + & - Hi! My HomePod started flashing the volume controls this morning.. And it is not responding anymore. I tried to reset it, but without any luck. The status icon change color to red as it is supposed to, but after about 45 seconds, it goes back to flashing volume controls. Woke up to my left HomePod in the stereo pair blinking. Cost $279+tax to get an out of warranty replacement. ... Initially the flashing volume occurred again during setup. I unplugged for a few hours and again was able to do factory reset. It completed the reset and went through full setup and has been working fine ever since. HomePod turns back on, I tapped it to wake it up. It does the little white glow and then cuts to the flashing +/- volume controls. Pressing and holding does nothing except for when it first wakes. I think she’s dead. After 3 weeks. My 1st Generation HomePod, running iOS 17.0, is stuck after attempting to reset it. When I plug it in and touch it, the white spinning light appears, but after 10 hours, nothing has changed. If I try to reset it, I plug it in and wait for 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds and then press and hold the HomePod. The light changes to a red spinning light.

I tried reseting it by turning it off, waiting 10 seconds, plugging it back in and pressing the center. The red light appears for a while but nothing happens and it goes back to the blinking lights. The HomePod mini is comparably cheap, thus I attributed it to cost-cutting measures. What I don't understand is, why they went with the same bad user interface design for the HomePod 2. The device costs 349 Euros and the volume button design is a step backwards. Small details like these matter.
