You could use velcro ties, too, along with some velcro strips under the board, to secure them. And zip ties work well, too.

He mainly used Mesa, but some times used Ampeg. In the early tears (Spastik Children I guess) he used a Randall amp. The only Ampeg thing that I could find that he used was a cabinet. If the bass is defretted you must fill the fret slots and sand level before applying epoxy. It's not easy to get a professional looking job but it can be done.
