When Velious comes out you will be glad to have the extra AC and HP. Because in Velious the Mobs HPs really jump up.

That's where shaman begins to shine at solo. Root roting is inefficient, but all Shaman solo is. Doesn't sound any less efficient than casting slows and heals.
