The French side is 220V so I would be very surprised if any 120V appliances worked there, but would be fun to watch the flames. Stay in SXM whenever. It's really not that big of a deal. Anguilla is overwhelmingly the better of the two locations but it's fun to explore new places and try new things. We stayed in SXM for the last days of our vacation and I don't regret it. It made the travel home MUCH easier and MUCH shorter, especially being with a 4 year old.
