Tivo remote not working with new batteries.

I tried going through the steps of pairing it with the tv but it does not work. The red light comes on, I type the code in, red light blinks and goes off, and when you try pressing the power button, the remote beeps red then yellow. The remote will also sometimes change channels on another tv in another bedroom.All the sudden my roamio's remotes (I have 2) stop controlling the TV.
