VDY is more of a bank sector play with some commodity weighting (in NTR and energy) imo. Most bank loans in Canada are for real estate. It's also got much higher weighting to energy than VEQT. Ive prefered VDY over VEQT because I didn't like how tech heavy VEQT was and thought oil was undervalued relative to tech at the time.
